Help us build a better, greener future

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY-01 small.jpg

At UnderSky we truly believe that we all can be part of the creation of a healthy, happy future for our little ones by embedding nature into their lives. After all, they will be our future mums, dads, consumers and leaders.

We put the environment and sustainability at the heart of all that we do.

Here are just some of the ways we show the world some love:

1.     We tell it’s stories

If there were a book filled with all the stories of our planet, it would be a very big book of many volumes! When we share these stories with our little ones we build experiences and connections together. Our events and products are story-led, this means that we have listened to the science of nature and created a unique narrative that connects children with this knowledge through super-fun activities.  Basing our play within this engaging space allows children to gain greater empathy for the world around them.  Exactly what we need in our future leaders!

2.     We ensure that play doesn’t stop

Children love to repeat experiences again and again – We bet you can recite their favourite book word for word? Or know that obstacle at the playpark that they will run to first? 😊  This is how they internalise their learning, allowing them to understand the world in a deeper way. Our activities have been tested by many children (they are the best critics!) and adjusted to ensure they are fun for many different types of learning and playing styles.  The high quality and design of our products means that you can use them multiple times for hours of outdoor play.

 3.     We tread upon it carefully

Every resource that we provide in our products has been thoughtfully sourced. This means that every purchasing and printing decision we make has been carefully considered for its impact upon the environment and society.

  • Our paper and card is 100% recycled and sourced from Eco Craft an ethical and environmental family business from Lancashire. They also supply us with biodegradable stickers where even their adhesive is kind to the world.

  • We print our products in our home studio using a very efficient, low waste Epson printer which uses specific technologies to reduce energy costs.

  • Our ribbons are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and our string is made from jute - a low impact crop.

  • Our clear packaging is made from compostable cellulose that won’t add to the micro-plastic invasion.  Plus the polypockets we use are from Eco Eco Stationary are made from 100% recycled material and are 100% recyclable!

  • Our packaging is made from 70% recycled cardboard and is part of a very efficient recycling loop to create new cardboard from old. Even our packaging tape is recyclable, rather than plastic based!

  • As fully as possible, our props are hand-made by us or purchased through smaller businesses who operate in a fair trade and fair wage system. We aim to never supply single use plastic items.

4.     We give it space to grow

Just like the natural world around us, we all need space to grow with just the right amount of support to flourish. With nature as their partner in play, children gain the chance to develop key skills in creativity, imagination, problem solving and resilience.  Nature is the best teacher! We advocate that everything on our planet has the chance to grow up, grow strong and grow together.

Through our events, social media posts and newsletters we suggest simple ways you can help welcome the natural world into your life.  It could be through ideas to encourage your little one to explore a local greens space; interesting new facts to amaze your family with; or perhaps our Pause for Thought questions: talking points for you and your little ones whilst out and about in nature.

Our provide you with outdoor experiences that are convenient to you and caring to the world. We hope to play a part in protecting our environment and informing future generations.

We hope that you will choose to be part of our journey.
